Robinhood which is a digital currency trading application has gone ahead to add Ethereum Classic (ETC) on its platform barely a day ahead of Coinbase. The stock and crypto firm which is based in the U.S made public the move on Monday, via its official blog. The blog stated, ?starting today, you can invest in Ethereum Classic on Robinhood Crypto, commission-free.?

Following its addition of Ethereum on its network, Robinhood will now have a total of six digital coins to six. The token, similar to the other five will be accessed by traders across the 19 U.S states that utilize the Robinhood network.

Rapid growth

The crypto exchange was launched barely six months ago, with only Ethereum (ETC) and Bitcoin (BTC) listed on its network. Robinhood has since grown, having achieved a $5.6 billion in terms of valuation in the month of May. This was as a result of the finalization of its $363 million Series D funding. Consequently, it increased it supported digital assets to five by adding Dogecoin (DOGE), Bitcoin Cash (BCH) and Litecoin (LTC).

Coinbase had earlier revealed its intention to list ETC on its exchange. It had announced last week that it had started the final testing of the digital coin. The firm had stated August 7, as the day scheduled to begin accepting ETC transfers.

To get ahead of Coinbase

However, Robinhood decided to work hard and add ETC on its platform before its rival Coinbase did. Earlier in the year, the co-founder of Robinhood Baiju Batt had stated that his firm would strengthen its crypto trading network to get ahead of Coinbase.

Meanwhile, the total value of ETC that is circulating the market has hit $2.2 billion as of the time of going to the press. This is according to data from CoinMarketCap which has aided the token to jump from 12th place to 10th.

The token has been boosted by the major listings on the market. It has only been recently added to the crypto trading network, Robinhood. The listing has since helped the coin maintain at $19, a price it has previously failed to reach.

Following Coinbase?s announcement to list ETC on its platform, the token emerged the highest gainer of July?s 2018, last week.
